Someone to talk to...

As a parent myself, I understand how important it is for you to know what to expect on this journey of help.  You might be wondering what to expect on your first appointment and the process and timescales involved.

Initially, I will discuss with you as parents what difficulties and issues you are experiencing with your child.   You will have a chance to ask as many questions as you would like and have a good opportunity to explain how you are feeling. I will give you an idea of the process involved, and describe your options for next steps.

In the next session, I will meet your child (if needed), and then we can come to a joint understanding of what would be helpful as next steps. This might include weekly or fortnightly sessions, or a referral to a different professional or organisation. Sessions tend to last six to ten weeks, or for some people longer, depending on the nature and severity of the issues. For younger children (and younger siblings that might come along to family/parent sessions), I have a box of toys and drawing materials and I will make the session as relaxing and comfortable as possible.  Each session will last about 50 minutes.

I have years of experience and have worked with many families like yours. Click on the icons below for their experiences:
